International Operator Licencing Regulations – Update

It appears that both the Government and the Office of The Traffic Commissioners have been busy over the last three months. With vehicles between 2.5t and 3.5t now being brought in line with the International Operator Licencing Regulations and the introduction of the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS).

Red diesel rules changing and some major changes to the Highway Code.
The van operators have been given a lot of time to reach compliance in this area. However, it is wise to point out that applications for this are taking a long time. Therefore operators need to act quickly. The application route is simple. Financial standing levels have been reduced significantly and staff are able to prove their experience to gain acquired rights to operate until May 2025.

With all these additional applications coming through, the lead time for the standard applications is bound to suffer. We recommend that existing operators should really plan further forward.
We have not had any further clarification on whether the current rules on tachographs have been adjusted to hold the 2.5 t to 3.5t vans. Although there are rumours for 2023 to be the year when Annex 1c is due to be adjusted.
