Course Content

Guidelines issued by the Health and Safety Executive on Driving at Work strongly recommends that drivers’ licences are checked when they are required to drive on behalf of the company and at regular intervals thereafter.

The Driving and Vehicle Services Agency (DVSA) recommends 3 monthly checks and any changes noted and recorded.

Insurance companies are requesting up to date information to assist them preparing a quotation.

Up to the present day, the usual method of checking licences has been to request both parts of the licence so that it can be copied and kept on file without any verification as to whether the information contained is true and up to date.

Section 87 (2) of the Road Traffic Act 1968 makes it an offence for a person to cause or permit another person to drive a motor vehicle of any class on a road if that person is not the holder of a licence authorising him/her to drive a motor vehicle of that class.
